Have you driven down I-80 near Altoona recently? If so you
may have noticed the major construction going on behind Bass Pro! The 300,000 sq foot, 9 building outlet mall, named
Outlets of Des Moines, is set to open October 20, 2017. Names of retailers are
expected to be announced this summer. This is not only long-awaited by residents of
Altoona, but a great opportunity for Des Moines as well. With the closing of
Southridge Mall a few years ago, the eastern side of Des Moines has been
missing a large retail option. Other businesses are going up in the are as well. It's an exciting time in to be in eastern Polk County!
